ER visit

What a week! We were back in the ER this week, but not for me! It all started on Sunday when Riley woke up not feeling well. We had to take her to the on-call doctor at our pediatrician. They said she had the croup and gave her some steroids. By Monday, she wasn't feeling too bad and was starting to turn around. On Tuesday, she seemed to be back to normal and we sent her off to school. My mom picked her up and the teacher said she had a great day and was impressed with what all she was doing....definitely not a sick child! However, within a couple hours, he fever spiked to almost 105 and she was crying in pain. She kept holding her right side and saying, "Ouch, Ouch!" Mom called me at school and I left immediately to come home. I called the pediatrician and they said to take her directly to the ER. With the fever spiking so quickly and pain on the right side, they thought it might have been her appenidix. I thought it was too and wouldn't have been surprised if they said she needed surgery!!

We made it Clermont hospital and they took her right back. They were so fabulous with her!! I'm so glad we went there. She was the only 'little one' at the time and just had everyone wrapped around her little finger. They did blood work, urine sample, x-rays, iv fluids, etc.....the whole nine yards. The poor thing was put through the books. At one point, she had an iv in both arms! She was not a happy camper, but really did do better than I thought. They finally determined it wasn't her appendix (thank goodness!!), but weren't sure what it exactly was. They think the fever just spiked so quickly that her body went into some sort of convulsions and dehydrated very quickly. After almost 4 hours, we were back home. The iv fluids turned her around completely! She is still running a temperature and had to stay home from school today and soccer this evening, but she doesn't mind. She didn't fight us at all and said she didn't want to go anyways because she didn't feel good. That is not like her, so you know she doesn't feel well. Collin of course started running a fever, but we're praying it doesn't hit him like it did Riley.

I'm done with ER visits for awhile!!!
